The other day when Brendan asked me, “Which one’s Courtney again?” The answer was easy.

“She’s the one that’s most like me,” I said.

Some days I look at Courtney and think, this woman gets me. Seems like every time I turn around we’re thinking the same way or doing the same thing. Put us together and we’re talking about Jesus and blogging all night!

And the blessing behind this? God has been putting us together often which is really odd since she’s in Ohio and I’m all the way up in Canada. I never would have guessed this one in a thousand years. Thanks, God!

Our story goes back about four years. I was assigned the task of gathering a group of writers together for an online magazine, when someone sent me a link to this video. There she was, this cute little blonde in her early thirties joyfully serving her family, and telling the world about it on the Rachel Ray show.

The episode was called, “Time-Warp Wives.” Sound familiar?

Within weeks I was introduced to Clare, Janelle, Ruth, and Angela. Together with Joy and Candace we developed strong friendships between us.

Loving the title of that episode I got her permission to borrow it for this blog and I’ve have been The Time-Warp Wife ever since.

Over the years I’ve been watching Courtney grow in her ministry at Women Living Well, but more importantly in her faith.

There are three things about her that stand out to me most:

One. She doesn’t stop smiling. Seriously. I can’t believe that there is so much joy packed into one little woman. She smiles, she laughs, and she encourages. It’s incredible.

Two. She holds her tongue. Even when she’s tempted to do so, she doesn’t criticize others. Wisely judges a situation–yes–but never points fingers at people. Thinking of her, I’m warmly reminded of this verse, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Three. She’s as smart as a whip. The woman knows her Bible and stands strong in her faith. Over and over I’ve been amazed by the wisdom she brings to a conversation.

All this to say that when she featured me on her blog this week I was humbled and blessed. Blessed to have friends like these in my life  and humbled by the kindness they show me, over and over again.

We serve a God of incomparable grace and compassion. Why He’d even bring me to this place and allow me to share with you is a gift that I’m thankful for every day. And why you’d spend time reading these words is another gift yet…

I’m not a writer, I’m an instrument fueled by His grace.

You are loved by an almighty God,
