I don’t want to overwhelm you today, but I have a lot of resources to offer you for this study. You’ll find all of the links below the descriptions. I hope you enjoy them!
THE STUDY GUIDE – FREE Printable Below
We officially begin our study today. However, today is only the introduction. We don’t start in on the study guides or the prayer journals until Monday. I wanted to give you the resources early so you were ready to go on Monday morning.
In the guide (find link below), you’ll find that I have selected scripture to read on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. On the alternate days it’s my hope that you’ll dig a bit deeper. For example, you could… look scripture up in your favorite commentary, read it in the interlinear Bible, look up words you want to gain a deeper understanding of, and watch sermons on the topic.
WEEKLY QUESTIONS
For those who want questions for reflection or group study, I’ll have new ones each week.
BIBLE VERSE CARDS – FREE Printable Below
Each week I’ll give you seven cards. There are 30 in total. I cut mine out, hole punched them, and put them on a little binder ring so I can meditate on one scripture/day. They’re so cute. I love them! These cards are a keepsake you can use for years to come. I picked Bible verses that remind me of the REASON for the season.
PRAYER JOURNAL
You don’t need to pick up a copy of my prayer journal to do this study with us. That’s totally optional. You can use any journal you have. In fact you could use a simple piece of paper. What I encourage you to do is to use your journal to journalize daily prayers, and to give thanks for a few things each day.
You might also use the journal to diarize the holiday season, making it a keepsake you’ll want to hang on to.
THE BLOG
I’ll be posting on the topics each week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Come here to glean encouragement and share in my thoughts.
FIND ME ON THE WEB
Look for my daily journal entries on Instagram. Here’s my URL: @timewarpwife
I don’t even think you need an Instagram account if you’re just looking. If you do have an account, then you’ll know what I mean when I say, use the hashtag #quietingyourheart
Find us in our Facebook group: Bible Journaling. I’m sure that many of the readers including myself will be sharing their journal entries.
Follow me on Facebook. Click the like button in the header. And if you’re not getting my notifications on your homepage, click the “like” button and choose “get notifications.” Facebook changed their algorithm about a year ago and started hiding the pages we like. Argh!

LET IT GO!!! Don’t try to control him at all. Allow the Lord to convict and change Him and stop arguing with him. Nothing good comes out of arguing. Let control and arguing go! Wrap them up in a box, put a bow on it and then give it to the Lord.
Would you please consider doing a series on women who are unequally matched (spiritually speaking) with their husbands? A few years ago my husband and I were strongly convicted of our faith having been lukewarm for years. I decided to change that, he didn’t. He says he’s a believer, works in our kids children’s church, teaches at awana, etc. But he refuses to pray with me. He says “I just don’t like doing that stuff with you.” We tithe but he balks at giving to missions or doing anything that requires sacrifice. When I talk about spiritual warfare or being attacked spiritually he looks at me like I have 2 heads. I’m wanting to join a Sunday school class and stretch my faith. I’m looking to grow more in my faith. But my husband isn’t interested in that at all. He thinks it’s weird, my passion for Jesus. I’m struggling with how to grow and deepen my marriage and at the same time grow and deepen my faith. As my faith deepens I become less like the world, but my husband is very worldly. I feel frustrated and sad.
Cristi, I’m rejoicing to hear that you are on fire for God. I love it!! But yes, you do need encouragement. That’s a wise step. Have you ever heard of Lynn Donovan? She is an author that writes on the topic of unequal marriage. She’s a great writer and a good friend. I highly recommend her. I should also ask her to guest post here sometime.

Wonderful habits for marriage, we jokingly call persistence stubbornness and it has worked for 35 years and 1 day. Praise God from who all blessings flow.
Good habits in a marriage is so important. My husband and I have practiced a few very good habits in the last 27 years as well.
Habit 1 for us: One thing we don’t do is talk down to each other or use hurtful words. Our words are for encouraging and lifting each other up.
Habit 2 for us: We always hold hands when we pray. There is something so powerful about hold each others hands while praying. We do this at church, around the dinner table, when we pray together as a couple, we always holding hands when we pray. I think it makes you feel more connected to each other.
Habit 3 for us: We look for something we can do to bless each others day. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, just something to says I love and appreciate you. I always a appreciate it when I’m running late for work and my husband brings me breakfast and my tea to me while I’m putting on my make up. I feel like he is so in tuned to me and he knows exactly what I need, when I need it. It reduces the feeling of stress and makes me feel loved. It also reminds me that he truly is the most important part of my day.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us regarding marriage. It’s always a blessing to read your blog.
I would ask that you and the others on the site keep me in prayer…my family also….husband, and children in prayer for all of our issues…in marriage.
I just finished praying for you Michelle. Thank you for inviting us to pray.
LOL… I do the scratchy throat thing too! Just made me giggle! Great post!
Ha!! A kindred spirit. LOL
I try to do each of these in one way or another. Though, at times I can fail pretty miserably. =(
Thanks for posting these habits, and encouraging us.
Oh, and scratchy throat thing…my sister-in-law does it. I have known her since we were 11 and was used to it, but the first time my brother-in-law heard it, I thought we would jump out of his chair. Too funny. =)
That’s funny about the gurgly throat! You listed some great habits including contentment. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Arlene!
