Daily Devotion - Even Keeled Through the Ups and the Downs

As the weather warms up and the flowers wake up from their slumber, I’m reminded of bonfires, barbecues, beaches, and bowls of fresh fruit. I’m reminded of days spent with family in the warm summer sun eating cotton candy and ice-cold lemonade. I’m reminded of countless hours we spent outdoors with the kids.

There’s an amusement park not far from here that’s on our to-do list this year, if conditions allow it of course. We used to take our kids, and now we’re planning on taking the grandkids.

I love the ebb and flow of the classic melody. Children laughing, music playing, gears moving, and of course the rumbling sound of the roller coaster.

As I got to thinking about that today, I was reminded how life is like that roller coaster some days–we have our ups and we our downs. But even when we think that life isn’t going the way that we hoped it would be, we can rest assured that God will lift us back up.

When the Bible talks about the woman in Proverbs 31, it tells us that she laughs without fear of the future. I see a woman who is confident in the Lord she serves, and His ability to care for her needs. I see a woman who’s even-keeled through the ups and the downs, knowing that obstacles offer her an opportunity to grow stronger in faith.. I see a woman who has placed her future in His capable hands. Hands that are able to mold and to shape us. Hands that are wisely directing our steps.
