I had a bad day. Not today, but a few days ago. I was so stressed out that my stomach burned for at least 24 hours. I couldn’t think straight, and all I wanted to do was to cry. I think I went through every emotion possible that day, and by the end of it all, I was drained. My body was aching, my head was pounding, and I was exhausted.

Once my head hit the pillow I was ready to pray:

“Thank You, Lord,” I said, “thanks for this trial…

Thank You for teaching me that I’m stronger than I ever imagined I could be. Thank You for teaching me patience, by allowing mine to be tested. Thank You for showing me that my way isn’t always the best way. Thank You for shaping me as I yield to Your will. Thank You for preparing my heart for Your service. Thank You for opening my eyes to those things I am truly grateful for by removing them from me. Thank You for reminding me how much I need You. And truly I thank You Lord, for Your unfailing grace…”

When you go through a trial, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which you lay your head. – Charles Spurgeon

Tilling the Soil

In Daniel Chapter 6, we read about a trial that Daniel was going through. More importantly, we see his reaction to adversity as Daniel got down on his knees and gave thanks to God three times a day. Your challenge today (or this week) is two-fold. One is to read Daniel Chapter 6, and the other is to practice giving thanks for your trials.

Planting Hope

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4, NIV)
