Hey, I just wanted to let you know about a little something before we get started with today’s Scattered Seeds.

In addition to our regular weekly Podcast, my husband and I have started a daily “5-Minute Marriage” Podcast. Each podcast has a Bible verse that corresponds with our marriage prayer of the day, along with a little encouragement.

Note: It takes a few days for the podcast to migrate over to iTunes, but for now, you can listen on Anchor or Spotify.

And don’t forget: you can always find our weekly podcast here:

If somebody told me that I was too tall, I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I know what I am. I’ve experienced the struggle of buying pants that need to be hemmed. I know what it’s like to drag a kitchen chair to the counter every time I need to reach something on the second shelf. I’m aware of the fact that my little legs take longer to get where I’m going. You can’t stand there and tell me I’m tall because I could clearly show you I’m not.

Here’s the thing: when we truly know what we know, we’re ready to defend what we know. In the same way, when we’re armed with scripture we can draw from our faith. That’s why the Bible tells us that the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. It cuts through the lies that attack us and threaten to draw us away from the Lord.

We hear lies daily. Whether they’re internal or external, Satan is at work dragging you down. His mission is to discourage you and draw you away from your faith. His tactics have a way of sucking the joy out of you until all you’re left with is a feeling of self-doubt and defeat.

Just knowing this makes me want to grab hold of scripture tighter than I ever have. I want to be like Jesus Who, while He was tempted, rebuked Satan’s lies with the truth of God’s Word. Why? Because He knew what He knew and was therefore ready to stand.

Tilling the Soil

Read Matthew 4:1-11 where we see Jesus boldly defending His faith with the truth of the Word.

Planting Hope

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, KJV)
