drenched

Voices. They come at us from every side. We listen to the voices on the iPad. The iPod. The iPhone. But are we listening to the Great I Am? – Courtney Joseph, Women Living Well

When I read that quote, I knew that I had to open this book club with it. That’s what this series is really all about: tuning out the world’s voice, and tuning into God’s.

During the next four weeks we’ll cover four topics:

1. Your Walk With The King
2. Your Marriage
3. Your Parenting
4. Your Homemaking

But here’s the thing, there’s a common thread that runs throughout each chapter of this book, which is finding your joy. Coming to the well daily, and drinking from The Fountain othat never runs dry. It’s about learning to seek God in every area of your life. It’s about bringing glory to God in the way that we live.

In John chapter four, we read a story about Jesus and His encounter with a Samaritan woman. We’re told that Jesus, being weary from His journey, sat down at the well. When the woman came to draw water, He asked her for a drink.

Since the Jews and the Samaritans were at odds with each other, she was taken aback.

“Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” – John 4:10

This portion of scripture is vital to understanding our walk with the King. Why? Because we’re all created with a thirst for something more.

Whether it’s food, attention, affection, money, recognition, joy, happiness, or truth we’ll never satisfy our craving for more until we’re quenched by His Spirit.

My will is to not only be quenched, but to be drenched by the Spirit of God. And that’s why I choose to listen to His voice day after day.

Courtney writes,

Do you want to be a better wife? Study your Bible.
Do you want to be a better mother? Study your Bible.
Do you want to be a better homemaker? Study your Bible.
Do you want to be a better friend or coworker? Study your Bible.

Which voice are you listening to? Are you listening to the Great I Am? We might have to turn off the iPhone for a while, put down the iPad, or tuck away the iPod. Not permanently. Just slow down to a pace where you can drink in, and get drenched in the Word of God. Time spent with God is the best investment we’ll ever make. Don’t miss out on the joy!

Join us for the next four weeks as we continue to dig into Women Living Well!
