In 1944 Marjorie Husted, (the woman who developed the character, Better Crocker) saw the need to recognize homemakers, and so she created “The American Home Legion” program. It was through this program that 70,000 women received a copy of “The Homemakers Creed,” certifying that the recipient was a member of The American Home Legion, dedicated to good homemaking for a better world.

Since it’s been 68 years since “The Homemakers Creed” was printed I kind of figured that Betty Crocker wouldn’t mind if I reshaped her idea and created our own. Sure I could have pasted a copy of her’s here, but reading it through I knew that I wanted something different. I want a pledge that points families toward faith–a creed that inspires women to point to Jesus in every area of their life. That everything we do, whether it be as simple as a load of laundry or as elaborate as a formal dinner party, should be done as unto the Lord.

With that, I’ve created a printable for you with a place for a signature on the bottom for those who wish to pledge along with me. I’m going to laminate mine and put it on the fridge. Others might want to keep a copy in their home management binders as a daily reminder of why we do what we do.

You are loved by an almighty God,

Darlene
