Psalm 156 – watercolor pencils
Before I share today’s post, I wanted to remind you all that I set up a Facebook page to share ideas and Bible journaling images. It’s an awesome community. Come and join us! And if you don’t have a journaling Bible you can get a little journal from the dollar store and doodle your verses in there (a lot of girls are doing that). If you’d like to buy one at Amazon, perhaps you might consider using this affiliate link. It doesn’t cost you anymore, but I’d like to offer some Bibles for giveaway from time to time (starting today), and I get a small referral commission from Amazon: KJV Journaling Bible This is the one I use. My favorite! There are other ones on Amazon too. So you might dig around a bit to find your favorite. The other tools I use are listed here, except for the acrylic paint (I don’t have that listed). So, I love this new technique of adding acrylic paint to color the page, BUT I know… I used to much. I tried everything to tone down the blue. Live and learn. Fischtales has amazing tutorials. And the dollar store has super affordable acrylic paint for beginners. It’s fun. But acrylics have to be watered down and used oh so sparingly. Like seriously sparingly. Here’s a link to her youtube channel: Fischtales Bible Journaling I just started drawing roses today and I love them!! They were so easy that I kept calling myself the rose queen. My daughter told me I had to stop. It was annoying. LOL (expect to see more roses!) I also drew a ship, which I realized should have been done on a way bigger canvas. You can hardly tell what it is.

Are you ready for a giveaway!
I’m giving away three KJV Jounaling Bibles! (one per winner). This is the same Bible you see in my Bible journaling images, BUT you have to color the images yourself. *wink*
It’s beautiful brown imitation leather. There are wide margins on every page, which are great for taking notes. So even if you aren’t a doodler, you can fill up the pages with thoughts!
You can enter to win one in two ways. One is to share a link to this post on Facebook, twitter, pinterest, or email, etc. And the second way is to join the Facebook group. Here’s the link again: Journaling Facebook Group
I’ll choose three winners and announce them here when the giveaway ends.
U.S. and Canada only please.
Congratulations to:
And finally, I have a printable for you! I promised it to you last week. Enjoy! Click here to view and print a high resolution 8 x 10 of the image below.
Thank you so very much for being a great inspiration to me. Being a mom, wife, and friend sometimes gets really hard. I look forward to hearing the ways that I can work on my marriage and my family. And most importantly my walk with the Lord.
Misty, thank YOU for being here and encouraging me. Have a great day!
Darlene, I am so glad that I found your site. It is so nice to be able to talk about our Precious Savior Jesus Christ. I will be an avid reader of yours from on.
Awesome!! And I love your name. I used to have a black corgi spaniel named Chelsea. 😀
I have never tried bible journaling but I can’t wait to try it 🙂 thanks for the opportunity to win a bible.
Thank you for this opportunity! I’ve been eyeing these Bibles online but haven’t mad up my mind because sometimes it’s nice to see what you’re getting before you buy. There’s also a few features these Bibles don’t have that I wish they did. Eventually I’ll make up mind, unless I win one first 😉
It’s good to be choosy! 🙂
I love the idea of this. I think better when doodling and this would be a way for my active brain to meditate on the word of God.
I entered the contest and if I don’t win I’m buying a journal and doing this anyways.
Thank you!
How beautiful! And what a great way to write out Scripture, too.
I absolutely love this idea and what an awesome give away – thank you so much!! Would that not help you to retain more when you are reading God’s word as well?! Love this- never heard of it before!! I entered the contest by joicing the group and posting on f/b – good luck everyone!!
It helps me to meditate slowly. And I remember where I’ve seen things.
Although I usually don’t post comments regularly following your entries, I have to say that I’m loving your art journaling! It is really beautiful. I have been inspired by you with two challenges for this year, the Project 365 and now journaling Bible, and I am so thankful for this. May God continue to bless your ministry. Now for the opportunity to win the Bible, I have joined the group on FB, thanks again for the chance!
I ordered a journaling Bible already so I won’t be entering but I wanted to say how nice it is to have a giveaway. I can’t wait for mine to come so I can get started.
I can’t wait to see what you journal!
Thank you for sharing such a fun and inspirational topic! I think you’ll have to un-enter me in the raffle, because I clicked on the two links, but I was never brought to any other sites to do what it said to do.
Thanks!
Jyll
Bible journal-ing has been on my heart. Now I feel I have some place to start. Beautiful!!
I have been wanting to try this! This is such a wonderful giveaway!!!
I think this is wonderful way to study the Bible and learn verses you put so much more into it, and it sticks with you better.

How neat! Thanks for offering this giveaway.
I tried to do the rafflecopter stuff but it gave no options. I’m going about it all manually but I did click Submit for each.
I hope it works for you. In the future I’ll try to have a giveaway without the gadget.
I shared it on Facebook and Pinterest, and joined the group. Wow- the group is so neat! So many inspirational posts! 🙂
(I’m NorthLaurel just about everywhere online so if you see NL, that’s probably me!)
Thank you for sharing. I really love how to you use art to express what you learn from God’s word.
Thank you Jina!
I’ve made notes in a notebook as I read, but would love to be able to do it IN my Bible. This would be wonderful.
It is fun!
I would love to win this journal! Your website is so incredibly inspiring. I entered part of the raffle but my husband and I have decided to take a 30 day break from social media in hopes of realigning our priorities.
That’s totally fine. This is why I put two ways to enter. (:
Sounds so fun and inspirational! Thank you for the opportunity to win this bible. I’m sure it will be a blessing for whomever wins.
Thank you so much for your give-a-way opportunity! I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler or a circle with a compass, but surprisingly, I’m excited about trying this. It could help me “own” verses in my own Bible!
Awesome! Words are beautiful too!

Wow! God has truly anointed you to do this and it’s so amazing! I love all the details and the creativity that you come up with. Those are some of the cutest drawn roses ever! Thanks for the free “love is kind” photo. I printed 3~ one for work, one for home and one to give to my friend at work. 😀
You’re welcome! It’s pretty cool that I can draw given that I have essential tremor. God is good!! 😀
I love that you have a facebook journaling group to follow the bible. I have been pinning pictures of people like you coloring the contents of bible and I am loving it. I heard that some markers bleed threw. Do you tell us what to do if that happens? What a great giveaway and thank you for showing us what bible you use.
Would really like to win
what lovely journalling. Wow! You are talented both in written word and in art! Thank you for hosting this wonderful give-away!
Where did you learn to draw your roses from? They are beautiful and so is everything else.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win a journaling bible! You do such a beautiful job with your journaling!
Thank you, Tami!!
I have been reading up on this bible journaling and it is something I really want to start! I have not purchased anything yet. I think this would be a great thing to be doing as I spent time in the word. When I can be draw and doodling at the same time! Then it really makes you think about what you read!
Blessings to ALL!
It’s such a relaxing way to unwind and worship. 🙂
I just this past week discovered the idea of Bible journaling and wow! I’m so excited! I’m not artistic at all, so that’s scary, but I can’t wait to try since I love to journal and write. This giveaway is so exciting! I requested to join the FB group and I shared the link to this post on my FB page.
In Him,
Amy
Awesome! Glad you’re here, Amy!
Just recently discovered your site and reading through your post saw this amazing journaling bible. I was very exited to learn such a bible existed. I wanted to get one and today I just happen to read your blog and you are giving them away! Yay!! I’m an artist and avid writer and journaler so this is a great fit for me. Thank you Darlene!
Wendy
So nice to meet you Wendy! Glad you’re here.
I have a notebook that I’ve decided to try and journal in. I’ve never really known how to do it but tonight the Lord was really showing me what to do. I started with one scripture and others came to mind. I wanted to keep going but I’m going to just do a page a day. I’m sure there will be dry days and that’s okay. It feels good to be learning something new!
Connie, that sounds fun and exciting! I know the feeling. 🙂
Thank you so much for this opportunity.
i just love this idea! Would be such a visual way to study the Bible!
Oh please pick me, I want one for my step-daughter. Her mom is forcing her to go to the Mormon church and made to go to Mormon camp this summer….she feels like she’s betraying Jesus. We just found bible journaling this week and went supply shopping today.
Sounds fun! wish I could, but they are randomly generated by the computer. I’m about to get them picked right now. 🙂
I am SOOO excited to be one of the winners of the journaling Bible, Darlene! Your ministry is such a blessing. Journaling will be such a wonderful way to meditate on God’s Holy Word and bring Him praise. The examples on the facebook page and pinterest are such an inspiration!! I’m already trying out some ideas on scratch paper. 🙂 God bless you and this wonderful website! By the way, I’m ordering your 100 Prayers book for my Kindle and a hard copy for my newlywed son and daughter-in-heart. Thank you, thank you!! <3
Thank you for creating bible journaling group you inspire me to draw again & I encourage also my kids to draw.I recently post my drawing Joshua 24:15….I’m praying to win the bible… God bless you more darlene!
The giveaway is over now, but I hope to have one in a few weeks again.
I recently got a journalling Bible from my hubby and children. My biggest problem is bleed-through. How do you deal with that? I’d love to see what the back side of the colored pages look. 🙂 Any tips to pass along?
Cheryl, I’m using acrylic paint, so I’m thinking that my paint will cover the bleed through better than watercolor might. I do have a video where I show the back of my page at the end. Look at the video and advance to 23:00. You’ll see how mine looks. I use a TON of water and a little bit of acrylic paint. The ink is worse than the paint I find. Ugh.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.
I particularly love your Psalm 156 image – I pinned it. 🙂 Is there any chance you might be doing that as a printable in the future?
I wish I was artistic enough to do something like this. I’m glad you are sharing your work for those of us who can’t do it ourselves.
Good idea. I’ll try to get that out this Friday.
I came across this page while doing a search for bible ideas to do for my husband’s new bible. I have been doing journal bible’s for 7+ years now BUT I am at a stand still right now with my husband’s bible. He uses a bible on his iphone but I am wanting to do one for him like I am doing for everyone in my life. I just got his in (it’s a camo one) and when he saw it, he LOVED it. He doesn’t know its for him :D.
Does your husband have any pointers to a wife that is clueless where to start? Normally I just highlight and which verses have meaning to me. I am currently doing the SOAK method in my current bible and my 5 yr old granddaughter has claimed this bible lol.
I have all the bibles I have ever owned to hand down to all my generations. I also buy bibles to give as gifts. I guess I am a bible hoarder but in a great way :).
I would love any ideas. My husband’s bible has no space so I have to plan on what I am going to write (it’s just a regular type of bible).
Thank you so much for any help.
God Bless,
Anne
