Note: I have a big announcement coming tomorrow about a marriage series I’ll be hosting on the blog in the month of February!

It all started a month ago–when I opened my gift from Michael. After removing the wrap, I had to pause for a minute before looking inside. My eyes filled with tears, when I realized that I was about to embrace my first pair of roller skates, and I didn’t want that feeling to end.

Sure, I had roller skates back in the 70s, but that was almost 50 years ago when all they had were adjustable metal contraptions that slipped over my shoes and came with a key to tighten them up. They were toys more than anything else. These teal-colored skates with pretty pink wheels and a full leather boot, are so comfortable I could almost sleep in them.

Once I started skating around the house, I realized how good it felt to be active again. And with that, I was inspired to do more. To drink more water. To eat better food. To stop eating more than I should.

I’m reminded of The Fly Lady, remember her? She stressed the importance of having a clean sink in the kitchen at all times. Why? I think it’s because she new that one good habit leads to another.

Living good tends to snowball that way. All you need is one change to trigger the next, which triggers the next, and so on.

In the same way one small change has the power to ignite a roaring fire of faith within us. Something as simple as opening your Bible can lead to a morning devotion routine, which leads to a closer walk with God, which leads to a stronger prayer life, which then leads to an abundance of fruit in your life…

Think about that today. What’s one habit you can incorporate for a closer walk with the Lord?

Planting Hope

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8, NIV)
