Today’s challenge is simple–“kiss him like there’s no tomorrow.”
So what am I saying? How is kissing someone like there’s no tomorrow, different than kissing someone like you do every other day? Or is there a difference?
Kissing like there’s no tomorrow is about being present in the moment. It’s about letting go of distractions and completely giving your heart to him until the moment it passed.
How often do we stop to do that? For newlyweds it’s a way of life. You look forward to the kiss and make them last. But as the years roll by many couples stop kissing passionately and turn to the peck. How romantic is that? Not very.
Pecking is great if you’ve got a beak and live in a hen house, but my guess is that you were born with a pair of lips that were designed to stir up some passion in your marriage.
Here are a 10 interesting facts about kissing:
- The earliest recorded kiss between a man and a woman is found in Genesis 29:11. Jacob kissed Rachel, but I don’t imagine that it was too passionate as they had just met only moments before.
- The Romans used to have 3 different words for kissing: baseum (kissing on the hand or the cheek), osculum (the peck between relatives), and saveum (a kiss of passion). a
- The study of kissing is called philematology.a
- The longest kiss on record was 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds, in a Valentine’s Day kissathon. a
- Kissing is good for your health. It lowers stress and burns calories.
- In Eureka, Nevada, a man with a moustache may never kiss a woman in public. b
- In Logan County, Colorado, it’s illegal for a man to kiss a woman while she is asleep. c
- In Hartford, Connecticut it’s illegal for a man to kiss his wife on Sundays. d
- In Boston two people may not kiss in front of a church. e
- On average a human will spend up to 2 weeks kissing in his/her lifetime. f

I just ordered some books to read. One is titled, “kiss me like you mean it” based on Solomon.
I was actually going to feature that author. Women Living Well has a video where she is chatting with him. It’s cute.
My husband will be happy when he reads this! Yesterday was our 24th anniversary and we spent the entire day together just hanging out and working on our house (we are doing some remodeling and such). We didn’t go out to lunch or dinner – just stayed home and enjoyed each other. And I have to say kissing is something our children think we do too much of! Thanks for the article – I think I will share with them 🙂
Parents who kiss too much? I could live with that! LOL
“Pecking is great if you’ve got a beak and live in a hen house, but my guess is that you were born with a pair of lips that were designed to stir up some passion in your marriage.”
I love that! And based on #10, I think my husband and I must be above average 😉
Woohoo! Two love birds with lips!
Being one who has never really enjoyed kissing in and of itself i find it interesting that the study of kissing resembles the word phlegm. 😉
Sorry. i did enjoy the facts though.
Ooh! Yikes.
I’m never asked this to anyone because frankly, it’s a bit embarrassing, especially for my husband. He suffers from severe halitosis, which lessems my desire to kiss him. I don’t know how to bring it up to him; it seems whenever I try to explain my hesitation, however gently I try to be, he is (understandably) hurt and humiliated. If he remembers to use mouthwash, it’s okay for a few hours before the bad breath appears again. How do I respectfully remind him to use proper oral hygiene so I want to kiss him? There are some days we don’t kiss at all because his breath is so terrible. Perhaps more importantly, how do I get over my own aversion? I want to kiss my husband, I really do!
Try this trick, You use the strongest mouthwash right before, then You kiss him. It works and covers for both of you.
