My Closing Thoughts on Chapter 7

Sometimes the most significant moments in life are the ones that catch us off guard. The days when we’re courageous enough to take off our masks and stand face to face with our fear. Such is the lesson we learn from Chapter 7 as Esther humbly stands before King Ahasuerus, revealing both her concealed identity as a Jew and Haman’s devious scheme to annihilate her people. She’s not merely asking for mercy; she’s putting her life and the fate of her people on the line.

Esther’s vulnerability teaches us the profound lesson of stepping out in faith, especially when we can’t see the road ahead. It reminds us that trusting God isn’t about having all the answers but leaning into Him when questions abound.

While she is humble and meek, she is strong, reminding us that vulnerability isn’t a sign of weakness but a symbol of profound courage. Charles Spurgeon’s words echo in my mind: “To trust God in the light is nothing, but to trust Him in the dark—That is faith.”

As we witness Esther leaning on God for courage and strength, we see His perfect timing at play. If you remember in Chapter One, I wrote, “Just like each thread and patch in a quilt has its own purpose and place, so does every choice in this story.” Now, we see that Haman’s downfall is also part of this divine fabric, so intricately woven that even what seems like a loose thread serves a purpose.

As we wrap up our week on the seventh chapter, let’s consider our own “Esther moments”—those days when we need to take off our masks, step into our truth, and risk something big for something much greater. In embracing this courage, we trust in the One who never leaves us to face our trials alone, for in the quiet whisper of faith, we find the loudest echoes of God’s grace.

I’ll see you on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

You are loved by an almighty God,
