Today’s Scattered Seeds

I’m the kind of person that sees the bright side of things. I don’t get bothered too quickly by trouble. I’m calm when the world around me is tumbling down. Where I do struggle however is when God makes me wait.

I’m like a bee in a bottle that can’t wait to get out. As soon as I’m confined to the parameters of uncertainty I get anxious and start falling apart.

As I got to thinking about that today, I realized that when God puts us in that place of waiting and uncertainty, He’s asking us to give up our hopes and to give up our expectations, trading our comfort for faith. Everyone wants to be in control, and the moment that control is taken away, we start to unravel. The real test of faith is whether or not we can step back and trust God to lead.

Martin Luther King Jr. described faith by saying, “It’s taking the first step when you can’t see the whole staircase.”

It’s not always easy, and in fact rarely is. But that’s how faith grows. It means that we’ll exercise patience, as we trust in His power. It means that we’ll lean on His wisdom during uncertain times. It means that we’ll wait, that we’ll trust, that we’ll pray.

Tilling the Soil

Read Isaiah 40:27-31. It’s a reminder during times of uncertainty God is our power and strength.

Planting Hope

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. . (Philippians 4:6, NIV)
