“One more sleep.” That’s what we’ve been saying all day.

One more sleep until my boys move out. One more sleep until their three rooms are empty. One more sleep until this momma begins a new chapter in her life…

I can’t imagine our home without kids. The hum and the rhythm of every day life, foot steps on the stairs, and the squeak of the fridge door are the sounds I’ve grown accustomed to. Not to mention the uncontrollable laughter we so often share.

I wonder, will they miss me? Will they still need their mom? Will they be okay? Will they come home for soup?

And with those questions, I’m reminded how important it is to let go of worry and to rest in the care and providence of God. I’m reminded that whether they are here or there they are always in His care. I’m comforted in knowing that He directs their steps. And I know that He is faithful as I release them to the Lord.

His eye is on the sparrow
Should they soar or fall from grace
Whether they are far from home
Or nesting in their place
It is not by will or might
They spread their wings and fly
But by the mighty hand of God
Released into to the sky
