The first month that my daughter moved out on her own, we talked on the phone for close to a hundred hours. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible, but when you love someone you want them to be a part of your day. With a speaker phone, I was able to talk to her while I was driving, while I was cooking, while I was working, and while I was getting ready for bed. Of course it’s tapered off dramatically since then, but we still talk quite a bit.
So, when the Bible says, “Pray without ceasing” I get it. When you love Jesus, talking to Him is a natural part of your day. I don’t have to wait until I’m tucked away in a closet to speak to my Savior–I can pray anywhere–anytime. And I do.
The thing is, God wants us to have a consistent and persistent prayer life. Not one that’s here today and gone tomorrow, but rather one that’s strong today and even stronger tomorrow. He wants to be a part of our life each and every day sharing both the good times and bad.
Our greatest sorrow should never be unanswered prayer, but rather the failures we’ve made to take things to prayer. That we gave up when we should have pressed on. That we looked down when we could have looked up.

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, KJV)
