The word priority goes hand in hand with importance, and in fact, according to Dictionary.com, it’s defined as the highest importance.

If someone asked me what the highest mountain in the world was, I wouldn’t give them a list of five. I would simply reply “Mount Everest.” Certainly, there are other mountains among the tallest on earth, but only one holds the title of being the highest.

So it is with priorities. While many compete for importance, only one holds the title of utmost importance. Which one? Well, that all depends on your heart. What is it that you prioritize most in your life? Is it family? Is it your job? Is it your marriage? Or, is it your Lord?

Jesus says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33, KJV)

What He’s telling us here is to prioritize God above everything else. Let your faith be the funnel through which everything flows. The way you treat your husband, the way you raise your children, and the way you present yourself to the outside world… should always begin with a desire to please God and put Him first in your life.

Putting Him first means giving my best. Not just a bit of my time and a piece of my heart, but the best of my time, and all of my heart.
