Daily Devotion - The Joy that Awaits Us in Heaven

Daily Devotion – The Joy that Awaits Us in Heaven

I’ve had a song running through my head all week. It’s an old one, but oh so good! Have you heard this one?

I have joy unspeakable and full of glory,
Full of glory, full of glory;
I have joy unspeakable and full of glory,
Oh, the half has never yet been told.

(Barney E. Warren)

This past week I was reminded that these words are from 1 Peter 1:8, “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” (KJV)

As the words of the song say, “Oh, the half has never yet been told.”

That’s incredible, really. To know that one day we’ll come to a deeper understanding of God when we stand before Him face to face. To realize that all we know of Him is merely a glimpse of all that He is. And to think that the joy we have now will be nothing compared to the joy we have then.

And so, we’re reminded when we’re tested and tried, and though we suffer on earth, there is joy that awaits us in heaven!

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. (1 Peter 1:8, KJV)
