I’ve had trees on my mind this week. You might have noticed when I talked about the falling of the leaves yesterday. Just thinking about them got my mind moving all the more and I realized there was so much to learn.
With that said, did you know that a tree is mentioned on the very first page of the Bible? It’s also mentioned on the last page of Revelation. By a fruit of the tree sin entered the world, and upon a tree that debt was paid. And so, there was a tree in the center of the garden as there is in the center of our faith.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. (Galatians 3:13, KJV)
The more I look, the more I notice countless verses about trees in the Bible. Not that we might worship them, but that perhaps we might learn from them. The way they bend and bow in a storm without breaking… the way they soak up the rain… the way they stand firm with roots that run deep… the way the scriptures themselves are written upon their pages… the incredible way they bring glory to God.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20, KJV)

Tilling the Soil
