Has your husband ever been sick and you asked him to go to the doctor and take care of himself? My husband often will get a backache and I ask him to go to the chiropractor or he gets sick and I ask him to go to the doctor. He also tends drinks a lot of soda and I ask him to drink a little more water. Why do I ask him to do these things? Because I love him and want him to take care of himself.

However….

When I am sick and my husband asks me to go to the doctor, I refuse. When I am extremely tired my husband will tell me to rest, I refuse. Why does he ask this of me? Simple. Because he loves me.

We need to take care of our husband’s wife.

Come an inch closer to your computer screen. Read this out loud. Listen closely….

Take. Care. Of. Yourself.

  1. Get plenty of rest.
  2. Drink plenty of water.
  3. Take a multi-vitamin.
  4. Exercise, even if it is just a short walk to the end of the street and back a couple of times a week.
  5. When you are feeling stressed out, take a moment to breath.
  6. Do something to relax and unwind each day. Maybe a bubble bath after the kids go to bed, a walk, or read a chapter in a book for leisure.
  7. Most important, spend time with God taking care of your Spiritual self.

When we take care of ourselves we are better equipped to take care of our family. We cannot effectively care for our husband, children or home if we are tired or sick. And if we are sick then we are adding more work for our husband when they have to add taking care of us to their already busy day.

We need to take care of ourselves for our husband and children. The next time your husband asks you to go to the doctor or take care of yourself, know he is doing it because he loves you and listen to him.

Sweet Blessings ~

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Today’s Challenge:

After dinner tonight ask your husband to go on a leisurely walk with you around the neighborhood. This is a great time to get out of the house and into fresh air for some exercise. It is also a great way to connect with your man. Grab his hand and enjoy his company. (If your children are too young to be left alone, find a relative or neighbor you trust to watch the kids for this short time or if all else fails, take the kids with you for a family time.)
