My husband loves me in little ways—a million little ways. He likes to do things to show me he’s been there and that he’s been thinking about me. Some days he’s sweet, and others days he’s silly, like the time he put his tool box under my pillow and I didn’t notice until about 2am. Or the day he tied all of my hairbrushes together with elastic bands. He hides my toothpaste, moves my toothbrush, and leaves me countless rolls of toilet paper when all I need is one. He’s puts Q-Tips in my makeup bag, chocolate bars on my desk, and candy in the cupboard. Just last night he put every pillow he could find on my side of the bed. His thumbprints are everywhere, and without a word they show me that he cares.

As I got to thinking about that today, I was reminded of the Lord. Of the way He loves us and the million little ways it shows. How His thumbprints are everywhere from the minute I wake up until I close my eyes at night. The warmth of the sun on my face, a smile from an old forgotten friend, a hug from my grandchildren, hot chocolate at night…

God could have simply created this world, but instead He created it with love. He went the extra mile to give us warm hugs, and hot chocolate. He gave us flowers, and laughter, snowflakes, warm blankets, and birds. He gave us the crashing sound of ocean waves, and the gentle sound of a bubbling brook.

His thumbprints are everywhere and without a word they show us that He cares.
