Prepare Him Room
Ladies, if you’re looking for an Advent Devotional that will point you in the direction of Christ, I encourage you to keep reading. More than a book, this devotional is an invitation. An invitation for tired moms to slow down, for busy wives to pause and refocus, and for women to gather in stillness, seeking the wisdom found in the Bible. It’s a journey to rediscover the joy and peace that comes from walking with Christ, especially in the hustle of the holiday season. As Christian women, we need to embrace this sacred time by diving into Scripture and finding solace in God’s presence. Let’s prepare Him room this holiday season as we embark on the celebration of Christ’s birth.

As you dive into this book, you might notice that it feels a little different from our usual studies. This one leans more into a devotional style, designed to encourage personal reflection and intimate moments with God. Think of it as an opportunity to slow down, engage your heart, and draw closer to Him through quiet meditation and practical application.
Our book is divided into four sections: Embracing Hope, Pursuing Peace, Spreading Joy, and Reflecting Love. Each Tuesday, I’ll share a YouTube video, a memory verse, and my opening thoughts on one of these themes. Then, on Fridays, I’ll post additional reflections to help us deepen our understanding as we move through the book together.
Your participation is vital, and so I encourage you to prayerfully study each chapter and share your insights with us in our Facebook group. It’s in these shared reflections and conversations that we find deep encouragement and fresh perspectives, so don’t hold back—let’s grow together!
Leaning into God's Power
Have you ever felt like the mountain ahead was too big to climb? Like the path before you was too daunting to even consider? Hope is that small but powerful force that invites us to look at our journey from a different perspective—one that replaces our fear with faith and our uncertainty with unwavering courage.
Christmas is a testament to hope—a story that speaks to the hearts of those who dare to believe that the impossible is possible with God. We see this in the journey of Mary and Joseph, in their willingness to trust that God’s plan for their lives was worth the risk, the whispers, and the unknowns. Imagine their path: an unexpected pregnancy, a long journey to Bethlehem, a night in a humble stable. Every detour tested their courage and faith, yet they pressed on—not because they understood every part of God’s plan, but because they trusted the One who was leading the way.
Maybe our struggles aren’t quite as dramatic as theirs, but they’re real nonetheless. Perhaps it’s an unexpected diagnosis, financial challenges, or a relationship that’s struggling. Maybe it’s a career setback, loneliness, or the weight of unmet expectations. Regardless of how trying our journey may be, it could never diminish the life-changing power of hope.
Hope changes the way we experience life, shaping our thoughts, emotions, and even the actions we take. Here are a few ways hope reshapes our perspective:
- Giving us rest instead of fear, hope reminds us that God holds our future.
- With an eternal perspective, hope helps us to see trials as temporary rather than overwhelming.
- Hope allows us to view hardships as opportunities for growth.
- By trusting in God, hope enables us to find joy even in uncertainty.
- Hope brings peace, knowing that God is in control, even amidst chaos.
We’re invited to experience hope in the same way that Mary and Joseph did that very first Christmas. In the midst of a difficult journey, they had a quiet assurance that God was leading the way. Even now, He’s leading the way—guiding us through our uncertainties, offering us a hope that meets us right where we are, and filling us with incomparable peace.
Hope isn’t just a feeling or a fleeting sentiment; it’s a decision to trust in God when nothing else makes sense. Mary knew this when she accepted the angel’s message. Joseph knew this when he chose to stay by Mary’s side. And the shepherds knew this when they left their flocks to go see the child in a manger. Their hope was bold, it was courageous, and it required a surrender to God’s greater plan.
If we’re willing to open our hearts—prepare Him room in our lives—He’ll meet us right where we are. Just like He did that first Christmas—in the humblest of places, in the quiet and unexpected moments. Let’s remember that Christmas isn’t about the presents or the perfect gatherings; it’s about the presence of our Savior and the perfect plan of salvation. A Savior who came to bring hope and to remind us that no matter what we face, we never face it alone.
This Week’s Challenge
