One thing that really spoke to me this week is the way Boaz reaches out to Ruth with a generosity that surpasses mere duty. His actions embody the essence of grace—giving not out of obligation but from a place of abundance in his heart. Boaz offers Ruth more than just the leftovers from the harvest; he provides her with protection, a place at his table, and an opportunity to gather grain alongside his own workers. This reflects the heart of our Father, who gives to us freely and abundantly, beyond what we could earn or deserve.

But notice this: The Bible doesn’t just call us to reach out; it also shows us the ripple effect of our actions.

In Galatians 6:9-10 (NIV), we’re encouraged, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Our gestures of kindness are seeds that grow beyond the initial act of giving. They foster hope and encourage others to pay that kindness forward, spreading goodwill far and wide.

Boaz’s generosity didn’t stop with Ruth. It extended to Naomi and ultimately played a part in God’s plan for humanity. When we give—whether it’s our resources, time, or a word of encouragement—we’re contributing to a legacy of kindness that goes beyond our understanding. Our willingness to share can comfort the lonely, strengthen the weary, and inspire the downtrodden.

All this to say, let’s challenge ourselves to not only reach out but also to think about the long-term impact of our generosity. How can we plant seeds that will grow an multiply? It’s about more than the immediate good; it’s about planting seeds and believing that God will take it from there.
