Regardless of how many times society tries to deny it, there’s more to this world than that which we can see, touch, and hear. There’s the physical realm, and then there’s a spiritual realm. There’s good and there’s evil. There’s a God at work in our lives and there’s an enemy who seeks to destroy us.

The Bible tells us, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8, KJV)

I wonder—how many of us are truly on guard? Are we prepared for an attack? Are we cautiously observing the way that we live, what we’re listening to, and what we’re allowing into our minds?

That fight you had with your husband… that rift between family members… those doubts you had about your faith… the anger you felt when you were betrayed… that temptation that led you astray… the real enemy there was Satan and his army of angels.

The fight is not with ourselves and it’s not with each other, it’s against the powers of darkness that seek to destroy. Therefore we must be on guard and we must be prepared to not only sense danger when it approaches but to quench every flaming arrow that is leveled against us.

Tilling the Soil

Study Ephesians 6:10-18, and examine the weapons God has given us for protection.

Planting Hope

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (Ephesians 6:12-13, NIV)
