Hey ladies! Are you ready for Chapter 3 of our Bible study on ‘The 7 Virtues of a Proverbs 31 Woman?’ This week, our focus is on kindness. Kindness, even in the simplest gestures, has the profound power to shine the light and love of God on the darkest of days. Throughout the week, we’ll draw inspiration from The Good Samaritan, a powerful illustration of Christ’s love and compassion for humanity. The story challenges us to examine our own attitudes toward others and asks us to consider what it means to be a neighbor. Join me on this journey as we uncover the true meaning of kindness according to God’s Word.
A Sweet Word from Karissa
I woke up today with kindness on my mind, a profound yearning to offer and receive kindness from my heart. One could say it’s been a slow but steady realization, but today it feels more pressing.
“Guide me in kindness, Lord,” I prayed. “Teach me the true essence of kindness and the warmth it bestows.”
My mind drifted to the various individuals who comprise my life: the good-natured ones, the difficult ones, those close and far. I was struck by how each one, irrespective of their character, deserves kindness—a sympathetic ear, a warm smile, a moment of patience.
I thought about the sad fact that hurt people hurt, and thus, it’s important to extend kindness even towards those who are harsh. For it’s only in being kind that I begin to understand their struggles. In turn it’s this understanding that fosters genuine kindness.
I thought about the trials and tribulations, the victories, and the joyous days, reminded how even the hard days serve as lessons, building my resilience. I prayed for the ability to embrace each day as it unfolds, radiating kindness regardless of the circumstances.
I thought about the simple yet profound beauty of contentment. How some are at peace with their modest means, while others perpetually yearn for more.
Guide me in kindness, Lord. Help me master the art of contentment.
I thought about the rifts and disagreements I’ve witnessed within the church, realizing that these situations call for an even greater dose of kindness. It’s through kindness that we can bridge gaps, foster dialogue, promote healing, and bring about unity.
I thought about the changing seasons. My fondness for summer’s warmth and my distaste for winter’s chill. I asked the Lord to guide me in nurturing kindness towards all aspects of life—to appreciate the pristine beauty of freshly fallen snow, the comfort of hot chocolate on chilly evenings, and the delight of board games with family on winter nights.
I thought about the allure of youth and the daunting prospect of aging, praying for the Lord to guide me in cultivating kindness. Grant me the strength to welcome each day, to appreciate the person I mature into, to relish the wisdom that accompanies aging. Teach me to embrace the wrinkles etched by a lifetime of smiles, and to recognize the inner beauty that continually blossoms.
Guide me in kindness, Lord. Teach me to be kind.
You are loved by an Almighty God,

This Week’s Challenge
Reflect on how you can incorporate kindness into your interactions with others throughout the week. Start by acknowledging that even the smallest acts can create a ripple effect of positivity. This acknowledgment may motivate you to become more conscious of your words and actions. Take a moment each morning to set an intention for the day. It might be as simple as “Today, I will strive to brighten someone’s day.”
