Right from the start I knew how different they were one from the other. Our daughter Madison was a little stinker at times whose curious mind led her to dig into drawers and empty the cupboards. Graham and Nathaniel were two little monkeys, with more energy than a gallon of sweet tea, and the world was their jungle. Brendan on the other hand wasn’t like the other kids. He walked a straight line before he could crawl. In fact, he was so well behaved, that he made us look good.

Behavior has a way of doing that, doesn’t it? One unruly child can make a great parent look bad.

In Ephesians Chapter 5, Paul writes,

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2, NIV)

2 Corinthians 5:20 refers to believers as “ambassadors of Christ.” When I was 12-years-old, I went to a group at our church called, “Young Ambassadors.” I had no idea what that meant at the time, but then again I didn’t know what a Brownie or a Girl Guide was either.

It wasn’t until later that I realized what an ambassador is, and how important this was to my faith.

Dictionary.com defines ambassador as, “an authorized messenger or representative.”

As children of God, we represent God. And if we are true to our faith, we exemplify Christ. We take every opportunity to be loving and kind. We’re wise with the way that we handle God’s truth.

And why do we live the way that we do? To bring honor and glory to the Father we serve.
