Today’s Devotional – He Sees Our Faithfulness

Before we get into today’s devotional… some of you have asked about our next Bible study and so I wanted to let you know where we are with that. We will be having one, and it won’t be too much longer. I finished writing it this week, I’m now setting up the interior pages, and as soon as that is done, I’ll send it off to editing. I’m hoping to have it all complete in about three week from now.

On another note, I wanted to update you on Michael’s health. He started having a lot of pain about a year ago. He’s been diagnosed with kidney cancer, but at the same time they aren’t sure that’s what’s causing the pain. Kidney cancer isn’t normally this painful, and so it’s a bit of a mystery to them. The good news is that the cancer seems to be contained in the kidney, but the bad news is that he’s experiencing debilitating pain. This has been a long process of waiting and wondering, but we trust that God has a plan in all this, and that the healing will come in His time.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support.

A few years ago, a friend of mine confided in me how she walked away from temptation. Choosing her marriage over the lure of a man, she stayed true to her vows.

I got to thinking about the choice that she made, and the rewards that God gives to the faithful.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6, NIV)

It’s important to take note of the words in verse six, He rewards… As we’re not always rewarded by others. Whatever the temptation might be, the road less traveled is often a difficult choice.

Remember Joseph who, in Genesis chapter 39, refused the advances of Potiphar’s wife. Out of respect to his master and to God, Joseph fled temptation and left. As a result of his loyalty, he was imprisoned by Potiphar himself, but that wasn’t the end of his story.

Faithfulness may be hidden from others, but it’s never hidden from God. Whether big or seemingly insignificant, He’s watching every choice that we make. God was with Joseph that day. He saw his faithfulness, He knew Joseph’s heart, and He blessed him accordingly.

Whatever it is that you choose to do, do it not for others, but for the glory of God!

Tilling the Soil

Read the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife in Genesis 39. Notice the ways that God blessed him.
