There’s a popular saying that goes, “You Have the Power to Change The World,” but the thing is, I don’t.

If I had the power to change anything on my own, I’d be skinny, successful, and we’d have world peace. If I had the power to change this world, I would have messed it up a long time ago, and so I’m thankful I don’t.

The thing is, God does, and when He works in us and through us, the world is a much better place. One smile can lift someone up. A little love can make someones day. A word of encouragement can strengthen one’s faith. A donation can help save a life. A good friend can help carry a load…

Casting Crowns said it well when they sang, “We are the body of Christ, but if we are the body why aren’t His arms reaching?”

We saw this illustrated in the story of the Good Samaritan, who stopped to help a stranger in need. He went out of his way to help when no one else would.

I’m sure we’ve all missed opportunities to be God’s hands and His feet in this world. We’ve missed the chance to love as He called us to love. We’ve stepped back instead of reaching out.

Today’s a good day for a change. The day to open our hearts and our eyes. A chance to get down on our knees and invite Him to use us. A great day to start changing the world by the power of God working through us.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Luke 10:27, NIV)
