Today’s Devotional – The Opportunity to Help Others Grow
For those who might have missed the announcement the other day… I’m hosting a 21-day marriage challenge from February 14th to March 6th in correspondence to my new book, “The Ultimate Marriage Vow.” Click here for more details. Today’s Devotional – The Opportunity to Help Others Grow My sister’s and I have this thing. We count our steps, and every day we share our progress as we encourage each other to keep walking. Over the years we’ve considered various ways to challenge our little group. One year we set a goal of 10 thousand steps each day. Some days we did 10 thousand and other days we did 20. One…

You sit still and trust the engineer.” How many times have couples jumped ship? Looking at the divorce rates in Canada and the US, the answer is a disappointing “far too often.” Too many couples have given up before they had a chance to experience what a mature relationship has to offer. Too many couples…

Today’s Devotional – Faith in the Power of God
As we embark on the new year, we all have a choice–do we face it in fear or in faith? Do we wait to see how it all pans out before we find a sense of peace, or do we have peace knowing that God’s on our side whatever may come? Maybe you’re not facing a giant this week, but perhaps next week… or next month you’ll be faced with a trial that threatens to steal your joy and rob you of peace. The 12 months ahead may be likened to the 12 spies that Moses sent out to explore the land of Canaan in Numbers Chapter 13. 12 men…

Today’s Devotional – He Walks Alongside Us
My son and I went walking today. Much farther than I had planned. You see, I haven’t been walking all that much this year, and so I’m out of shape. My plan was to start small, and increase the distance each time. “I’ll go for a short walk,” I said, “but nothing too far, or my back will give out.” These days I walk a few blocks and I’m sore, but today we stretched that out to a few miles or more. “Just a bit further,” he said, again and again. And just when I thought I was done, we went a bit further yet. Along the trails, over the…

An Opportunity to Grow
I’ve always been a roller coaster kind of girl. I love the feeling of the wind on my face. The suspense of the incline. The view from the top. And the rush of the plunge… What I don’t love so much are the ups and downs that life has to offer. Sure we all enjoy a good view from the top. It’s the plunge to the bottom that takes getting used to. The days of uncertainty. The ones in which we’re tested and tried. Those are the ones I need to learn and to grow from. James writes, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials…

Making the Most of Our Lives
I lost a friend last year. A sweet woman named Rita. No sickness, no symptoms, no signs were there to tell me I’d lose her. All I know is that one day she was here and the next day she was gone. I got a call from a friend of hers who lived in the same apartment block. “Did you hear the news?” she said. “Rita passed away last night.” I couldn’t believe it was true. How could it possibly be, when I had just spoken to her on the phone? As I got to thinking about her today, I was reminded how quickly things change. How the people we…
