Quieting Your Heart for the Holidays – Today’s the Day… Our Study Begins!

ResourcesSlide

I don’t want to overwhelm you today, but I have a lot of resources to offer you for this study. You’ll find all of the links below the descriptions. I hope you enjoy them!

THE STUDY GUIDE – FREE Printable Below

We officially begin our study today. However, today is only the introduction. We don’t start in on the study guides or the prayer journals until Monday. I wanted to give you the resources early so you were ready to go on Monday morning.

In the guide (find link below), you’ll find that I have selected scripture to read on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. On the alternate days it’s my hope that you’ll dig a bit deeper. For example, you could… look scripture up in your favorite commentary, read it in the interlinear Bible, look up words you want to gain a deeper understanding of, and watch sermons on the topic.

WEEK AT A GLANCE – FREE Printable Below
Week at a glance is a synopsis of the study guide. It can be used as a book mark for your Bible, or you might want to put it up on your fridge as a reminder of each week’s focus. I printed mine out on card stock, and I’ll be keeping it in my Bible.

WEEKLY QUESTIONS

For those who want questions for reflection or group study, I’ll have new ones each week.

BIBLE VERSE CARDS – FREE Printable Below

Each week I’ll give you seven cards. There are 30 in total. I cut mine out, hole punched them, and put them on a little binder ring so I can meditate on one scripture/day. They’re so cute. I love them! These cards are a keepsake you can use for years to come. I picked Bible verses that remind me of the REASON for the season.

PRAYER JOURNAL

You don’t need to pick up a copy of my prayer journal to do this study with us. That’s totally optional. You can use any journal you have. In fact you could use a simple piece of paper. What I encourage you to do is to use your journal to journalize daily prayers, and to give thanks for a few things each day.

You might also use the journal to diarize the holiday season, making it a keepsake you’ll want to hang on to.

THE BLOG

I’ll be posting on the topics each week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Come here to glean encouragement and share in my thoughts.

FIND ME ON THE WEB

Look for my daily journal entries on Instagram. Here’s my URL: @timewarpwife

I don’t even think you need an Instagram account if you’re just looking. If you do have an account, then you’ll know what I mean when I say, use the hashtag #quietingyourheart

Find us in our Facebook group: Bible Journaling. I’m sure that many of the readers including myself will be sharing their journal entries.

Follow me on Facebook. Click the like button in the header. And if you’re not getting my notifications on your homepage, click the “like” button and choose “get notifications.” Facebook changed their algorithm about a year ago and started hiding the pages we like. Argh!

Thank you so much, Darlene, for all these wonderful resources and for putting this all together. I’m so happy to be able to join in! God bless you!

  • Melissa

I am so glad I saw this post this morning. The other ads you posted stated Quieting your heart would begin tomorrow, November 22. I will let my friends know as we all thought it would begin tomorrow.

  • Melinda

I am so thankful I was led to this study. It is exactly what I need as we head into the Christmas season. Jesus is the reason we celebrate and I pray this helps me focus on that and keep him at the center in my family.

Blessings to you Darlene as you lead us!!

  • Laura Lane of Harvest Lane Cottage

I’m getting ready, Darlene. I received my prayer journal this week. I just printed out the study guide and cards. Next step paper punch and paper cutter. I also subscribed so that I’ll have email reminders, and I’m going to like you on facebook, too. Thank you so much.

Blessings from Harvest Lane Cottage in Carthage, Missouri, USA,

  • Heather

Hi there! A journaling bible? Where did you find that at? I would love something like that! Let me know, please. Thank you!

    Sincerely,
    Heather 🙂

  • Meghan

Bless you Darlene for all of these wonderful free resources; what a gift.. Looking forward to the next four weeks!

  • Su Ann

I started looking through everything last night. I have the ‘Quieting Journal’ and have a question. Each day there is a section called ‘Prayer’, are we to write our own/list prayer needs/or copy a prayer form somewhere?
Also, I enjoyed watching your video on this–I’ve never seen/heard you speak until now(you have such an inner and outer beauty).
Lastly, will you and your readers please continue to prayer for my marriage, family, and my health? i would greatly appreciate it!

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

    • Darlene Schacht

SuAnn, the prayer time is for your to write down your own prayers. Whatever you feel led to pray that day. Or you can use it to write prayer requests for others. That would be good too!

I don’t usually do videos. I was pretty terrified! LOL

And yes, I’ll be praying for you. Thanks for asking us.

      • Natalie

I love the idea of also using the “prayer ” section to pray for others. i had not thought of that. Thanks for the awesome idea!

  • Su Ann

Thank you for the prayers and for replying. I think you did an awesome job on the video!!(I would have been scared, too!)

    Thanks!

  • Jeanna

I found you from visiting Denise’s blog at Count it *all* JOY!!!

I love this concept and your introduction video convinced me to join.

I look forward to reading more about you, your ministry and your blog.

    Have a Blessed week.

  • Natalie

I thought it started yesterday. Oh, well guess I will quiet my heart and meditate or what I studied yesterday. tHanks for all you do. I loved my first day.

  • Jimmy & Terri Watkins

I just want to thank you for your marriage prayers. They have really helped my wife and I to pray for one another. I have been praying for our marriage and I tried to share each prayer almost everyday on her Facebook page. I look forward to studying along with you with quieting-your-heart-for-the-holidays! May Jesus Christ receive glory, honor and praise!

  • Elizabeth

I am thankful for your ministry and I’m really looking forward to starting this study. I’m anticipating that God will do something GREAT during this time.
    God bless you.

  • Jenny

So it starts today, the 22nd? I receive the Marriage Prayers daily, which is how I saw this. Will you be putting similar prompts for visiting your blog during the study? I printed out the materials and will be digging in today. Thank you! I really need this…what a word in due season. I was just telling my husband that between the sudden death of our loved one and accompanying grief, and the time change, I’m fighting depression again and am determined not to let the enemy steal my joy of the season this year again…and then this study popped up on the Marriage Prayer…. 😉

    • Darlene Schacht

I posted the resources on the weekend, but the study guide and prayer journal start on Monday. I should have lined all that up better.

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost someone. Ugh. That’s so sad. I found that day one and two were a good antidepressant for me. My brother in law who is more like a brother to me is dying of cancer. Every time I see him he’s worse. Today’s study helped me to understand that a bit more. I’ll write about it in Tuesday’s post.

  • Bonnie

Love the study! Where can I find the links to the music that was posted? I listened to the instrumental this morning, and now can’t find the links. ? Did I dream this?.? ?

  • Dede

I’m sure you’ll tell me since it’s my journal I can do what I want, but I was wondering what your intention was when you put in the snapshot section. Is that a short synopsis of the day or just one even that stands out in your mind?

Love the journal and am enjoying the study.

  • Michelle

I’m just wondering if there is a certain day each week that you will post the new Weeks synopsis, and verses? Thanks for a great study.

  • Sherrie

I just found your web pages I love what you have to say and I love how helpful your pages are.. The Housekeeping is awesome, Thank you. I want to join your Bible Study, is it too late? I just recently gave my life to the Lord and I am in a Bible Study at church and it is a wonderful group of ladies. I would like to join your too, if that is ok? How does this work? Thank you for your wonderful helpful pages

    • Darlene Schacht

@Sherrie, awesome! I’m glad you are joining us. Look on my home page and you’ll find the free resources that I posted this past Saturday. I would print out the study guide, and jump into week three with us. You can go back to the other weeks at the end. Also I’ll have another study coming up in February that I’ll announce after Christmas. 🙂
