The Best Soft Sugar Cookie Recipe
This recipe is very near and dear to my heart. Ten years ago I was being induced to have our first baby, I decided to make cookies for all the nurses and doctors that God was sending to be part of one of the most special days of my life. I stayed up late that night dreaming of what it was going to be like being a mother…while I made these very cookies. When I took these into the hospital, I was amazed at how much joy they brought the hospital staff ! I felt as though I had a revolving door on my room…I got to meet so many people and had a great…

Why I’m Blessed to Be Their Mother
It was a surprise attack. The morning was yet dark and all I did was walk out our bedroom door. When suddenly! They popped out from seemingly nowhere. Three tousle-headed little boys all reaching for me at once. The shortest one grabbing my knees and another around my waist. The third managing to hug me from behind. Soon we were a tangled mess of arms and legs. Of course, I shrieked. Who wouldn’t under such circumstances? This was just the effect they appeared to be hoping for, this pajama-clad, up-to-no-good gang. But not willing to go down without a fight, I resorted to my own underhanded…

My Thoughts on “Working” Moms…
The following article is an excerpt from ‘The Good Wife’s Guide: Embracing Your Role as a Help Meet‘ (edited to fit the blog) Fifty-plus years ago, when parents were raising twelve children or more, a woman’s place was in the home, while her husband was the sole financial provider. In today’s world where many families rely on the income of both parents, many women are saying they have too much on their plate. Having a family and a career is common, but hard to achieve. Combine that with a passion to raise a healthy, close-knit family, and you have some decisions to make. What do I cut? What do I…

Do You Know How Proud I Am of You?
Because I’m a woman, a wife, and a mother, my writing it targeted toward other “women.” My mission is to encourage you–as I’m also pursuing–to joyfully serve your family as unto the Lord. I’ve noticed however that I’ll often see comments in regards to my blog or my book along these lines: “there should be more books that focus on how men should lead their wives and how they should properly respect/treat them. I don’t see half as many books on the subject as I do women.” By the way… have I ever told you how much I appreciate your feedback? I do–thank you! So let’s address this shall we?…

How to Find Your Purpose in Life
Dear Darlene, I used to be a super busy woman, Bible study teacher, involved in many ministries, our daughter was busy too, piano, harp, musical theater, ballet… You get the idea a super (overly busy family). My husband works, but none of us were connected. Our daughter became ill, which brought me into deep depression, then her health tanked just as I was recovering (God’s Provision). She increasingly got worse through grade 3 and by the summer she was in hospital more than not. We were transferred to a Children’s Hospital in another state. She and I lived in hospital almost the entire fall there, my husband visited as his…

The Ministry of Being a Motherand a Titus 2sday Link Up!
Being a stay at home mom will not look the same for each woman. Our life circumstances are all different. Some of us home school, while others have children in school. Some of our husbands work from home, while others leave for the day. Some of us have babies or toddlers, while some have older children. It does change with each season of life. My mom was a stay-at-home-mom. While we were in school, she was always involved in some kind of ladies Bible study and/or teaching one. She also made and decorated cakes to earn extra money. I don’t think I ever remember there being a time that I…

Assembly Not Included
The home should be a self-contained shelter of security;a kind of school where life’s basic lessons are taught;and a kind of church where God is honored”~ Billy Graham, “My Answer” A few years back, my husband and I came across an awesome desk/computer hutch. Closed up it looked like a provincial style wardrobe, but with the doors open and the front section pulled out, it became a large L-shaped desk–perfect for our home office. We ordered the desk to be delivered the following week, and like most things these days it arrived in countless pieces, along with instructions that Einstein himself might have had trouble deciphering. Fastening, and fitting and…
